Hi ho off we go the the Great Frederick Fair!

Oh yes I have had many good times at the GFF.  Mom and Dad and I would pile into the Chevy and go to the Childrens Day at the Fair.  Sometimes my Dad would have to beg off because he had to do surgery on
someone. But each year on Friday of the Fair Mon and I would go see the Household building  at the Fair.
She knew alot of the sewing ladies and she made  sure that I would see all the great quilts.  The clothing and household sewing  with the many ribbons hanging from them were a beautiful sight.  The quilts were hung from the rods that hung from ceiling of  the tall building. There was handy work also and the clothing there too.  Knitted or crocheted work lay on a tierd stand in the middle of the building.  There were also many pies and cakes and canned goods too. All lined up along the walls of the one side of the building.  Fudge and cookies and other candy was there too.  Oh what a wonderful sight it was.

Out on the grounds you could go for a pony ride or ride a bumper car or a merry go round steed.  Play bingo for dishes or glasses or canning jars or alot of other things.  Alittle farther down the row was farm machinery with tractors and hay wagons.  There was the Farm buildings that housed the smaller farm animals chickens, ducks, geese, bunnies and pigeons.  I use to show my chickens there as I grew up and had a small farm set up with  my hubby Gary at the time.  The chickens  won 1st 2nd and 3 rd prise ribbons.  In another building farm crops were shown.  Wheat, corn and Barley were there to see and then there were the farm garden crops.  We would see sunflowers and roses there too.  Everyone was sporting a prise ribbon.  Mom would always love to see the roses. She loved roses and had a few in our back yard on Lindbergh Ave.

I know that I have tucked away the ribbons that I won for my sewing and for the chickens I have raised.  But it was one wonderful and fun time I had that has lived on with my daughter Kelly Smith.  She has entered alot of her photographs.  I know she has a great talent for taking photos in black and white.  The ones that win decorate our walls here on 2nd Street in many rooms.  Each with the ribbons that it has won in the frame with the picture.

So, I cant wait till I can go and see the Fair this year,  for I know she has entered 7 new pictures and I know she should win on one of them.  So,  I hope, all of you will go and visit  the Great Frederick Fair!!!  Ride the rides and eat  the great food made by all the good people of the organiations and churches that work so hard out there every year.
