Today started out to be a beautiful Saturday for us all. When I took out my sign to the curb I noticed water running in the gutter. I had seen this same small stream yesterday but took no mind to it. But today I saw where it was coming from. I walked up a few feet in front of my neighbours house and looked down on the walk to see water coming up thru a water turn off cap for #19s home. A home of a family friend. I went back into the store and called the city and they said that their man would be right out to see the problem.
Well that was about 1030 AM. By 130 PM a very tire man showed up to tell me another man would be back to see what was wrong with the turn off. Well after about 15 mins. my dear friend that works for the city Joe came up in his own truck. Poor guy has been called here about 4 times in the past 2 years for the same water problems at this very spot. Seems he is the one that is always on call that day. He went right to work and he was very kind enough to tell me what he was doing. I then went back to work in the store. By and by two others turned up and a backhoe. Boy that slot of noise after they came. But they got the work done and the new pipe put in by the time it was 345 PM. No leaner's these guys they get things done! I"m
glad that there are guys like Joe working for the city when we need them. I am also glad he was on call today. I knew that when he shows up the problems are always worked out.
Now # 19 will have water and I know all will be a beautiful Saturday night. Oh, and Joe if you read this Thank you so much for the job well done!

A rainy day in Frederick
Ah, yes it is a light and gentle rain here today. And oh yes course it is a Sunday.
Rain gear is out along with the church goers. Brightly colored clothes and the
umbrallas, some of which clash, but nun the less very needed. Cars go swishing
by in a great hurry for a parking place close to the church. Right now the sun has
thoughtfully deceided to peek thru the clouds. I am thinking that the sun is trying
to help the last of the church goers get to the church without getting too wet.
When you live downtown you can always get to church on time. Or you hope you can.
With the rain it just makes you want to curl up with a book and find out just who stole the
crown from that English tower. Sometimes the rain makes you want to come out and wade
in the puddles or the curb gutters just to splash. But what ever it makes you want to do
it does help the many gardens and lawns grow. I say thank you for the rain dear God!!

Back To School
Oh yes, I did say those awful words. But, I think about this, most kids dont really want to miss that next step in thier education. For some it is a begining, to others it is a middle and to the next set it is the rest of the upper 4 years of the ladder. Then there is the even bigger step: College! But where ever you are in your education I wish you all a very interesting, exciteing and fun filled new year of school!!

Help Brighten up Frederick City for Christmas
If you don't already know, we here in Frederick, Maryland had the worst blizzard in years this past winter.
It hit with such a hard blow that we have lost most of our Christmas lights that were in the trees downtown.
With that blizzard also came the cost of just clearing the streets. Now the city has had cut backs in finance too. And that has lead us to the problem: we dont have the money to replace the lights to light up Frederick for the holidays.
So the downtown business people have a plan. Everyone can chip in $20 to help with the cost of a string of
lights or sponcer a tree for $120. But they have forgotten us, the little guy! I know that I am hurt by this. I feel that I have the right to try and give something to this cause. So I am saying give all the people of Frederick a chance to help!!! I own a very small company in down town Frederick. And thru this company I will be selling a given craft so that I can raise Money for the lights. I may not make too much as to sponcer a tree but, I sure am going to try and help light up some!!! I am also asking for all the people of Frederick and surrounding areas, who enjoy the light trees in Frederick at Christmas time, to help out too. I am not asking for the $20. I am saying give what you can and send it to the City of Frederick or bring it to me I will get it there. We maybe in hard times but we can give a few pennys to get a joyful smile at Christmas time for all of us youngseters and the elders too.
So what do you think Fredericktonians can we do this?? I think we can.
